Meet Hailey Etter

The Basics

Where are you from?

I’m from Memphis, TN, but have also called Athens, GA, Atlanta, GA and Alta, WY “home.”

What is the one thing about yourself that you would like people to know?

I was born to cheer for one team and one team only: The Georgia Bulldogs. Go Dawgs!

What makes you laugh?

Fainting goats, Laffy Taffy jokes, and my husband.

Do you believe a cup is half empty or half full?

If the coffee is hot, the cup is always full. Don’t forget the two packs of Splenda!

Do you have any pets?

We adopted a sweet Golden Retriever named Marshall. One of my life goals would be to train him as a therapy dog and maybe even let him sit in on a session or two.

What was your first job?

Starbucks in a Kroger in Athens, GA. I think I lasted six weeks… Those 5:00am mornings quickly helped me realize I’m not a morning person.

Questions about your therapy practice

What do you value about being a therapist?

I value the opportunity and honor of getting to know the stories of people, the healing power of relationships, and the need for a safe place to be vulnerable.

What do you think is important for a client to look for in a therapist?

Authenticity, empathy, and consistency.

How does your faith play itself out in your work as a therapist?

My faith influences my view of the meaning behind struggles, our God-given design to feel, and hope for the future. Whether someone believes or not, my goal is still to show the power of forgiveness and redemption through the counselor/client relationship.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

My goal is to develop a counseling practice that effectively equips people to acknowledge, experience, and understand their feelings.

Which TV show would you never miss?

“So You Think You Can Dance” and “Duck Dynasty” make me happy, happy, happy!

Who is you favorite actor/actress/celebrity?

Jimmy Fallon

What is your favorite sporting activity?

If dancing is a sport, I’m always the first on the dance floor.

What is the last book you read?

“Antelope in the Living Room” by Melanie Shankle. She makes me laugh out loud.

What is the last album you purchased?

Shane & Shane’s “Bring Your Nothing.”

If you could...

If you had six months off work, how would you spend it?

Traveling to Europe, specifically Italy.

If you have friends coming over, what would you cook?

Apple-stuffed pork chops, Pioneer Woman mashed potatoes, and bacon-wrapped asparagus. Cookie dough ice cream with rainbow sprinkles for dessert!

If you could travel back through time to spend one day, to when would you travel?

My wedding day. Nothing like having all your favorite people in one place!

Would you like to climb a mountain or trek across a desert?

I’ve climbed a mountain and driven across a desert. I’ll take the beach.
